Permission slips and paper clips,
One school day, pretty quick.
Then the fires began to glow,
Brighter, stronger, row on row.
They began to scream, as doors were locked,
Their visions blurred by burning chalk.
I sat back to take it all in,
Knowing they’ve paid for their sins.
School can be such a horrible place for so many people.
