Today I come out from under
the rock where I am hiding
for safety of the stray bullets of
self-made enemies even though
there is no war
but battle is going on.
This sacred rock,
so to speak,
has kept many safe,
the hush hush whispers,
the I don't know attitude,
the quite way of going around
as if nothing is happening,
but fully aware of danger
lurking in the dark,
like the volcano waiting to erupt.
The strangers took the advantage
of our nonchalant weakness,
amassed weapons of destruction,
building strategies under our very nose.
We smell the flowers but
deaf and dumb to its poison.
Today I urge you to leave
your comfort zone behind.
I'm surprised at what I saw at a glimpse.
The strangers living amongst us
Unwittingly sneaked so close
and has mischievously
laid a trap in our backyard,
planning our demise at a trumps call
while we buy, sell, dine and dance.
This is a wake up call from your slumber.
Come out of your comfort zones,
out of under the rock where you hide.
Awake now my beloved people.
Arise and defend yourselves
from this impending danger,
or you will have nothing to wake up to.
Save yourselves from thunderstorms,
your culture and tradition,
Secure your generation,
protect your children.
Arise now and live.

A call for the affected communities to arise and defend themselves from being annihilated by the unreasonable aggression of  the Fulani herdsmen invading the communities at night the women, children and families. It has to stop.
