Grief Under Cover
Do you know why you want to run?
Life can seem harder sometimes,
but we just try harder to run faster.
I am like a bird,
I got caught now I am
wishing to be free.
Life wasn’t promised to be easy,
though I wish it wasn’t like this.
Sometimes I’d like to be free
from this cage that’s holding me.
I am feeling like ashes
blowing in the breeze,
I am not sure where I am going
to land.
Though I know it’s not forever,
this journey is dragging me under.
I gasped for air only to choke
on the dirt that has covered my life.
I will not give up
I am just exhausted from this fight.
