Oh glittering star in the night sky
Can you hear my forsaken cry?
Your sparkling sisters and beautiful brothers
Betrayed our kind fathers and loving mothers

Your fires in the sky of stories untold
Gleaming and shining molten gold
Heroes we see in the nighttime
Scattered diamond dust, glittering grime

Magellan’s guide to places unknown
Lights that illuminated Elizabeth’s throne
There before Caesar’s empire fell to dust
There before Solomon’s silver turned to rust

Our sobs at night turned to awe
Because your brilliant glow that we saw
You’re an angel’s halo, a poet’s tale
Beacons of hope cutting night’s black veil

We wished on your light, gave our dreams
Now in return, all we hear are our screams
Because of your dazzling light in the pure dark
Growing closer now with a different spark

Stifled silence, a war plane’s hum
Whispers of a war that can’t be won
Our horrifying nights, our respite days
Glorious stars now a distant haze

Moving faster, a shooting star
Close to my eyes, once from afar
Breathless panic, the scent of smoke
An infant's cry, the fear you woke

I feel the earth shake, the sky on fire
I look to the stars we once would admire
But alas I see your bombs in the night sky
And now you’ve silenced my forsaken cry
Blitzkrieg. the Battle of Britain
