My defense/preservation has nothing to do with strangers murdering strangers. Am I supposed to relinquish the means (weapons) by which to defend myself because a stranger murdered strangers? Children have been shot. So what? I value my life more. Defending one's life is not an abstraction. My weapons belong to me. I bought them. I didn't steal them. They are mine. I will keep them. I will use them to defend myself.
