Toast

Here’s a toast

To the time between

The time that makes me ache

And long for your touch

Here’s a toast

To the promise of companionship

The rock that keeps me anchored

Here’s a toast

To forever

The dream I’ve dreamed

Night after night

When I was alone

And you were there

A toast to those dreams

That have been replaced

By this life I’m living

Beside you
