Don’t know why I’m still here
Our roots refuse to grow together
You only want pretty blossoms
And erupting volcanoes
Still I try to tie our trees together
Eternal passion with eternal poison
Any fool can be in love
Takes a special kind of accident
To still love the left-over ashes

So I come heavily every day
To blank pages and off-white sheets
I get over and under, not safe or discreet
And just because in the shower I sing
You think you’ve done me no injury
Yeah, you’ve  never heard the melody

And the price of knowing the thoughts of your heart
Is a sword through my soul, piercing and dark
And I still don’t know why I’m still here
Our roots refuse to grow together
Eternal poison with eternal passion
And still I love those left-over ashes
