Maths isn't hard
once you realise
that nine hours is
equal to one yard

and three yards is longer than a day
unless it's a metric day and then it works
out about right.

Teacher said it was wrong
and I had it back to front,

I was reading through the mirror
and didn't make allowances
for the discrepancies
but teacher's hard to please anyway
and
it still looked right to me.

Alice once again invites me
to tea at her place but I can't face
another cucumber sandwich
so
I politely decline the invitation

it's just something about me
and the situation she
likes to put me in that
puts me off.
