i don't want the poem to end
because when i've written the last line
the feeling may be gone
and you won't be there anymore.

so i read it out loud
to no one in particular
until my head hurts because
if i can replicate even a fraction
of the feeling in the pit of my stomach
when i first saw you
i would read until the words
split my head open,
until i couldn't breathe
anything but.
