I am sorry that our two mutual friends have had a bitter quarrel.
Friendship, apart from sincerity and affection, must be consistent- it's not something to trifle with-we owe a duty to our friends to be reasonable and decent in the relationship. Otherwise, we live in lies.
As a long-time humanist--30 years? now, I must live what I believe or count me then a liar and hypocrite.
It's a better man (woman) who respects and helps others, who has kindness and compassion and doesn't act out of pride, selfishness, malice, anger, envy or ill-will.
The day is our prayer and the testament of our humanity- no one knows what we think or do and it's this silent interiority within us that matters when our brief sojourn in life is over.
Light disperses---it finds its place to where it finally settles and is never lost- it continues to shine for others in its ambit.
You make me laugh with your humour and caustic jokes but I know you are harmless.
Until we meet, please stay well and remember me to your lovely Italian wife.
Yours sincerely
P
