The nights air danced on my skin,
I waited for him,
A smile on my face and my heart in its place,
I waited for him,
A knot in my belly, and a glisten in my eyes,
I waited for him,
Teeth on my bottom lip and perched in my chair,
I waited for him,
And when a car pulled up and he wasn't there,
I could feel my heart stop,
The man took off his hat and bowed his head,
And I knew it then,  my father was dead
