A GIRL IN THE WHEAT FIELD

Youth and beauty are her gifts;
They are what give her such lifts
To float lightly on corn ears
With a heart so full of cheers.

Stretching her arms means a lot:
Charm and softness she has got.
All life gifts are in her hand,
Like a princess fair and grand.

Cheerful are the wheat and stalks,
Kissing her feet as she walks,
Hoping her stroll not to end
Till their harvest is at hand.

Wheat and men enjoy her sight
As she runs with flying feet.
Their joy casts out all their fear
And what cruel time will bring her.
