"Prologue"

To look at you now with tempered hindsight
Is the task. You, my family, a vital
Part of me, I seek to see what shapes all
My time with you has formed within. With light
Found elsewhere I shall touch the wounded heart
Of me, and lift the brooding dark pall
Of fear so long in place ----- a stunting wall.
I am enabled with a gentle might
The calm and caring words of friends who do
Not fade. Common is the way, yet commonly
Undone we act a scripted part untrue
To self, and slight our souls. Softly, cautiously
I shall tread the road, and slowly move
Toward my dreams; to see, and sing sweetly.
