The Lady of the Lake tried to sooth the young king.
She said she will give him a weapon that would beat everything.
She pulled him underwater, and Arthur was shocked to have breath
The Lady of the Lake said that this scabbard would ward off death

He took the sword in his hands and slowly wondered
If this was like the lightning bolts from the God of Thunder.
The Lady of the Lake said that the scabbard was power.
And under the might of Arthur's weapons all men would cower

The Lady of the Lake said that there was one condition.
He must give her the sword when he left the land of the living
He came up gasping, even though no water was in his lungs.
Arthur started speaking in ancient warrior tongues.

Griflet who was with him was shocked at his lord
Who came up to him with a mighty sword
It seemed the weapon to pierce through Achilles breastplate.
The holder of this sword in battle would surely have the best fate

Arthur and Griflet slowly rowed back to the shore
It was as if they had been to this place before
Arthur held on to his sword as if someone was trying to grab.
A bow and arrow was a good weapon but it could not stab.

Next Arthur had to get a spear, which had a mind for slaughter
The Lady of the Lake watched Arthur leave from the water
Arthur held Excalibur, a weapon fit for a king to slay.
Arthur would hold on until he was stabbed and betrayed.
