I wish I could forget
But I can’t watch more than one sunrise up close in a day
Without changing where I am.
And I could not remove the image
Of what you have done for me.
Without changing where I am
Because the place I reside now
Is where I am comfortable
But comfortable does not watch the sun climb the sky
Getting out of bed does.
I could not look at it straight.
Just as I looked at our friendship with two lazy eyes.
Thinking we would always be close.
In time
In distance
As people.

So as I wake up every day
And see the sun shine when before it did not.
I will always remember your kindness.
Even the moon cannot block the sun forever
So time cannot prevent us from talking.
Because our distance
Is only the distance the sun has to travel across the sky.
And just as the sun has to travel down
I could travel down to where you reside
So I do not have to forget
Us
