To get together, you wind your watch
But time only exists when you stop
You pause and collect all thoughts you forgot
Add them up on your mathematical clock
You spend all your hours hypnotized by TV
But the outside world don’t like you drugged
Tambourine man’s stuff is laced and empty
You lose your edge every time you turn the key
The beast called rock and roll’s in your bloodstream
The twirling snake just turned into a tree
The magician’s waiting with a sign-up sheet
The herds of birds are flocking to the scene
And there’s a door in your dusty ceiling
God and the devil are playing poker there
You tend to meet both in your fragile dreams
Which one is which, just flick the light switch
When did being happy get weird
Beneath the moving clouds and the fixed stars
In your heart you know there’s something better
But never mind, I’ll see you at the bar
