Intelligence is the vessel that we fill with knowledge. I.Q. tests "seek" to measure the size of this vessel by posing loaded questions that can only be satisfactorily answered with the "right" knowledge. Anyone who believes in the feasibility of this approach believes that Rรถntgen waves are therapeutic in eradicating the symptoms of the chronic, metabolic disease known as cancer. I.Q. "tests" gauge knowledge (as defined by test designers), nothing more. Can I.Q.-test designers fix automatic transmissions? Can I.Q.-test designers weave baskets? Of course they can't. But, amazingly, I.Q.-test designers are intellectually superior enough to rate the intellectual worth of those who can do things that are far beyond the ken of I.Q.-test designers.
