When people ask me
why I don't pursue writing as a career
the answer is the literary equivalent
of dark chocolate--I love it
but it's bitter-sweet
and it melts when you hold on
too tight, and for too long
the answer is complicated
in fact, its a relationship
deeply personal
a high stakes investment
...that's not about the money
the point of the matter is
if my financial stability
depended sole on my ability
to produce written gold
I'd say that's far too much pressure
and the only pressure that should be found in writing
should be the tip of my pen once it's ink hits paper
