rest among the gentians
                     like an exhausted lover,
                     the road has thrown

you out of track and youth,
                     a line of rescue wakes
the rooks in the cold trees,

there is a nest not far away
                     waiting to fall, a pause
before the first call, a damp leaf.
written after seeing an accident on a country road near Rosenheim, in which a young man was killed...
