when I was young I wondered
how the world came to be
now, much older
I don't think I want to know

I cherished friends
and their ways
to find at times
how far away they had gone

I thought there was
an absolute right
until I witnessed
some serious wrongs

I achieved
mightily goals... particular to me
but soon realized how minuscule
in fact we are

I threw down
real passionate ideas
and picked up
so many flaws

remained optimistic
at the challenges up front
and spent many
lifetimes looking back
