Day into night The Hot Sun being the summer light Slavery and ******* being a plight Plantation having a purpose Beatings with torment strikes The disadvantage in having no constitutional rights The plan in how slaves will escape It will be movements like apes While the slave masters were asleep The Slaves were making plans in escape preparations being thought deep All the Slaves held their meeting, but knew there could be death with plenty of torture if they were to be caught But escape in being a chance, but it’s the only way the slaves will ever advance A mission with being determined to be free But the Slaves had to escape at night before sunrise without being noticed The Slaves took their lanterns, but had to be very quite it if they intend to head for freedom in the Underground Railroad Yet night was pitch black Slaves had to mobilize forward, but not look back The focus, “On to Freedom” A new being feeling like Heaven’s Kingdom Well the Underground Railroad was light at the end of the tunnel Many Slaves were able to exit into forbidden States, while others were less fortunate, and were killed in their efforts Yet different states had abolished all the slave laws and Slavery for most part became home of freedom So the Underground Railroad was a passage in freedom being was it was supposed to be The eye on Dignity and Honor in knowing where one belongs The music of spiritual songs “Wade in the Water” The Lord sees our plight and he is our guidance and our light It was a time of weary and tired feet But freedom you can’t give into defeat Every breath in accelerating in whatever time you have left The Curtain call but with freedom never ending A time to rejoice and give thanks It was a long walk being a journey I carried my dignity and pride with me with every given step Now I can finally close my eyes and sleep My soul is in Heaven and everlasting to keep My living being my stride Oh Lord to whom I will abide.
