When I was very young
A child still
my mother taught me
many things
that stayed with me
she taught me that
I would love so
deep
a love that would nearly hurt
your soul
she taught me not to cheat,
but always trust the man
you are with
She also taught me
how to give my love,
and this lesson
still remains
She said I had to learn
how to trust so our love
would always remain.
I remember one lesson
that never went away
and that is time would
heal all pain.
She said to me,
give it time and you will
find someone new
and he will treat you like you
need to be treated and he will
be true to you.
