I remember the days when you were the girl
Who came into my life
Nearly ruined my world
Since then, nothing's been the same
Caught in the thunder and theΒ Β rain

I still remember a time
When I professed to you my love
But you went over the line
And you put up your gloves
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

I've moved on with my life
Made a new start
Gave to another, my beating heart
We long for each other
When we're apart
She's the woman of my dreams

I wish you the best, there's no animosity
It just came to a point where I had to break free
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

I will never forget you
You're a part of my past
We should have known then
That it never would last

So I have to profess
That it broke my heart
Seeing you out in the cold
All alone in the dark

I related to your pain
I thought it was a shame
I was your Adam, you were my Eve
Until you bit the fruit off the forbidden tree
You were not the one for me
It was clearly plain to see

This isn't my problem, I'm well aware
But it doesn't mean I haven't a care
You never were one to not put up a fight
I know in the end
That you'll be all right
This is just the way it needed to be
I've gone and found the right one for me
