i left behind an unsigned letter
knowing the reader will know who it was from
i packed a bag with useless memories
and stuffed it away with a carefree hum

strolled down a path that tripped up my pace
secretly knowing and avoiding
an upcoming disgrace

i parted ways with a mindful friend
easily and firmly
assured it was a final and fitting end

my mind fell numb at her tender touch
not knowing why or where it came from
but found out i needed her so very much
