She came home from school
with a forced smile on her face.
How could i tell her She thought,
In utter disgrace.
Mom came in with a hearty smile.
She said “how was school?”
As she sat on the stool.
“Was it worth the while?”

She wanted to tell her
and her heart was pounding
She wanted to show her
That her day was anything but astounding.
But she didn’t want her to worry.
Because she was so busy.
So she held in her injury,
even though it made her dizzy.
“School was fine.”
And that’s how it ended.
Because she had no spine
And left important things unattended.
