A drunken old man
Music from his past being the caravan
Down by the bayou
You would have to be Southern in order to pursue
Uncle Joe performed when Race was an issue
When he tells his tail, he often needs a tissue
Yet my Uncle was meant to be on stage
His sheer talent the world often was amazed
But he made a vow that no one is going to make him stop
He worked too hard and was determined to make it to the top
Uncle Joe would tap and move to the beat of rhythm
His hands and dance reminiscing a spiritual hymn
Even other past celebrities would always reframe
But Uncle Joe was total entertainment being the aim
However, his was an entertainer that welcomed change
But you had to prove in what needed to be rearranged
Uncle Joe had his own virtues
He stood out because his civil rights made him strong
No struggle was going to stop him in getting along
Draw your own conclusion if you will
Uncle Joe achieved and the fact that he is old, he wants to perform still
He was his own masterpiece in craft in having a marquee fitting the bill
From time to time he must take a medicated pill
Anybody wanting to step into his shoes, you must have talent in order to fill.
