Goodbye Ella
She lived her life like a true christian
I never once heard her complain
Even when squeezed in the vice-like grip
Of a tumour on the brain
She described a fog descending
The signs were subtle at first
We all must do our best she said
Just before she lost her words
She passed on Sunday morning
Snow drifts lay outside
Ever the one to consider others
Her family by her side
This is about my wife's mother, who mercifully suffered no pain.
