Jul 2016
We drove for hours
For what you thought
Would be
A simple display
Lights and sounds
A bustling crowd
But never expected
A ring.

The summer breeze
Cooled nervous palms
As my body pumped blood
Marching and matching the
Burst of explosions
Happening inside
While playing off a smile.

Trembling through a short time
A long period only felt
When one is unconscious
I found the perfect time to
Distract starry eyes
And turn them to tears.

You said yes.
Right there we held on
Through a flowing sea
Nothing mattered
But you and me.
