with thanks to Lucy.

You're quite right Bernardo,
Lucy in the sky and her diamonds did glow
but that was a long time ago
when heroes were real and the feel of a woman felt like a woman

did you see that  coming?

beauties of the age?

I have written and read them on every page of my life
the most beautiful is to become a wife to me

and I have yet to see although I never will
the bitter pill of self defeat

I rise to the occasion as each occasion demands
every man stands alone at the final reckoning

Lucy is beckoning me
diamonds are alI I see
and I am drowning in
the ecstasy

if being is free
then that is the answer.

The turn of the cards can't tell,
a spell was thrown and
should I have known I'd
have caught it

as well perhaps I did not

my lot is a happy lot
Lucy has got
her diamonds

I've got one of my own.
