Diamond Chain
Simultaneously light and heavy,
I cut all the chains but one;
A gleaming stretch of diamond links
Binds my heart to his.
This is the only chain I will not cut,
For it is not only impossible,
Made of hard iridescent diamond,
But it is also an unseen desire;
I do not wish to cut this last chain,
And I swear that I never will.
