White
I could see the light through my eyelids
Before I recognized your breath,
Orienting myself to your world around me.
The way you held me last night
Gentle but also on fire,
Burned into arm and lip.
Your closed eyes ignore the light
The same one that pierces through me,
Comfortable in this new place.
Everything is brighter in the day.
The familiarity is gone
Shedding through you as I open the door.
