May 2016
Its different being home this time.
It doesn't seem like my castle
By the sea, but a sea
Of concrete and limbs.
I remember the streets
Emblazoned in gold,
Every stoplight a lantern
Of emerald.
I remember the city
Sounding like a symphony.
As if the world here sings together
In perfect harmony.

But after ten years away,
Its almost foreign land.
The cacophony of car horns
And chattering voices meld together
Into white noise.
The nostalgia is gone.
Over take by age,
My memories now
As tarnished as the buildings
Touching the sky.
