i'd struggle to see anything funny
in a world that was no longer sunny
we'd be penguins on some cold shore
dawdling stiffly in the icy indifference
of those who stand by and watch
they hope in their hard hearts that we slip
and maybe lie there, broken forever, and sleep
the sleep of those who go away and never retun
