My days had long lost their luster.
Dwelling in the shadows, even when there is light,
Drinking water doesn’t quench my thirst.
Even when the wind blows, there is no sensation.
Walking for countless days on Mother Earth, I still can’t see her splendor;
Blades of grass are more capable of rejoicing for their days.
My veins don’t race anymore,
My heart, a habitat for grief.
I don’t sing anymore.
I blinked only for a moment and lost the purpose,
And now I am gone astray,
Rain on me, so I may live yet again.
Rejuvenate these dry bones.
Weeping in my own obscurity,
Taking refuge in seclusion,
I don’t sing anymore.
Oh- now I digress.
The ground shook beneath me,
A wind from the north filled my nostrils.
All that was empty made whole.
Renewing my strength, mounting up on wings,
Vast fields of songs each caring hope.
Emerging into a new being,
Taking flight on this endless journey.
