Puzzle
A piece of a favourite puzzle
Has slipped beneath our floorboards
No matter what we do
We just can’t bring it back
It’s strange to think
That it will sit
Just beyond our reach
For years and years
And years
Long after I draw my final breath
I’m sorry tiny puzzle piece
You’ll never be reunited
With your brothers and sisters
Never more will you join them
Side by side to reveal a bigger picture
To me you represent
A tiny mishap in the grand scheme of things
In its own small way, this loss has become
Part of the universe’s great disorder
