He was born on a day when the sun didn't rise
And the birds laid eggs that didn't hatch
Little did he know, it was all a disguise
Till he awoke in a strange pumpkin patch

There he found creatures, they all were afloat
Like jelly beans flown into space
They were different in color, like Joseph's coat
But all were extinct from the race

One day he found a dragon tree
And in it dragon's blood
He went to tell his friends, with glee
Until it landed with a thud

Free of love and void of hope,
He hated where he was
No one had the courage to cope
And only answered, "Just because"

One day he met a soul like his
And asked, "Why were we sent to this place?"
His twin answered, "The secret is this-
But close your eyes- just incase"

The boy shut his eyes, and waited in vain-
What he saw shook his insides
He saw himself a mortal, slain
In the place he currently resides

From then on, he thought, "What if?..."
"What if I was born on a day when the sun did rise?"
Eventually, he awoke from his dream
And realized he never opened his eyes
