Buffalo Grass

she came from out of nowhere

and took root in my open heart

tough as the mid western prairie

once she got in it was just the start

heated words never burned her out

she stayed strong waiting for the rain

the tears of fears quench her thirst

still there even through all the pain

her words of love kept me fed

when I doubted the reasons

visions of her Indian dance fill my head

keeping the beat in my heart

she will always be here even when she goes

like the millions of years gone past

her strength and beauty will forever live on

spreading forever like buffalo grass
