I've been battered and broken too many times
To see the life mentioned in sweet rhymes
I can't seem to let go of my past
Maybe that's why love doesn't last.

Love doesn't come naturally to me,
And when it does, it doesn't leave
That's my problem, can't you see?
Everyone I love has turned into an enemy.

My old love sits dormant in my heart,
But the new love won't start.
I've ******* myself over, can't love anymore
I ran from one love straight into a door.

I've been battered and broken too many times,
And now I live between the lines.
I can't seem to let go of my past
Because the love I had was meant to last.
