i'm looking at my heart
through blurry eyes
confused
by the lack of pumping
   red blood
the lifeline is missing
instead i see stone
   hard
i can toss it
like a baseball
waiting for the crack
   the connection of wood
   to rock
that sends it sailing
out of the ballpark.
