She Died On Christmas Night
Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time
a time of celebration and joy
a time of peace and good will
when children unwrap their toys
But for me Christmas has another meaning
to me it's when my love did die
I watched at her bed side
tears did stream from my eyes
I held her hand to comfort her
I tried to understand
why my world was falling apart
in this foreign land
They had told me she would get better
told me the operation was a success
but that Christmas night she did die
now at Christmas my heart is filled with loneliness
Still no Christmas cheer
even after all these years
just the memory of her loss
and my broken heart the cost
