What really means to say love is blind
Long ago,
Shakespeare said:
“Love is blind”
A phrase, so misread,
that seems kind.
If not,
Then tell me why:
All this cases come a long,
Of ripped hearts that can’t just get
Why their lover,
Simply left.
No, you are not blind
When you choose,
At least then
Your eyes are still of use.
It is throughout love’s process
That your sight fails to see
All the little details where your partner
Started to flee.
Everyone has a lie
That they’d wished came true
When blindness takes us by,
We stick to it, like glue.
The game is old:
We play a long,
When we are aged
And when we are young.
So when this break up comes as a shock:
Just stop
Find the bandage,
Take it off.
And gently, rewind
I promise you’ll find
What really means to say:
“That love is blind”
