I have forgotten what yesterday felt like
What it was like to never have known the way you smile
To not know the way your eyes light up
As you look at the stars
Drawing and connecting the lines between
Into paintings
Being traced by your eager fingertips
I have forgotten what it was like to not see
The way that you care and love without cease
I no longer know how I could go a day without thinking
About the ways in which your wonderful mind works
Taking paths that I have never seen
I have forgotten what it was like to never hold your hand
And now I pray with all that I am
That I will never have to remember
What I’ve forgotten
Ever again.
