Taken to something on those dusty roads
Drawn in by something no one else knows
We'll go places they're too afraid to go
Because we've seen death, face white as a ghost

It may be just foolishness
Or something deep within
We know something they'll never know
We weren't wired to smile and sin

We weren't wired to be happy either
'Cause their happiness is a lie
It's little fibs to comfort them
To help them sleep at night

Whatever's hidden by the clouds
At the tops of mountains
Under leafy shrouds
We'll race our hourglasses
Seeking it out
Knowing very well
It's in ourselves
