The Solemn Song

the day after the parting,

he wrote a solemn song--

sing, ye birds of admiration,

sing for this lonely one

nouns and pronouns adrift,

a canary's chirp afar--

listen to the sparkling lilacs

of her smile,

as they fade into the

moonshade
