The sand dunes undulate
To the fading music of summer,
Shimmering softly
In the light, gently dying.
Longing for heat
In the cooler days.
Searching inexorably
For the comforting
Arms of the ocean,
So close,
Just out of touch.
Fingers touching but never grasping.
Alone beside each other.
Achingly lonely without the other.
