It was a contest I entered some years ago
Take the tour with me as I narrate the flow
It was a contest presented by the New York Daily News
This was a contest that I just couldn’t refuse
You had to name a city in a picture
The answer was St. Louis, Missouri
Image winning first place
I was ready to travel to the Paris space
The Daily News called and asked for Mr. Blake
My Grandfather answered the phone, and thought they were calling him
Well as it turned out, it was me the New York Daily News was calling about
However when my Grandfather said he wasn’t well and I wasn’t around in tell
I told my Grandfather, “You made me miss my Paris in advance”
Now I have loss my chance
It would have been all expenses paid
Just me and Paris in the shade
This was something Heaven truly made
No a la Carte, a la mode and certainly n o Allons-y!
Paris I wasn’t bound
Another time that will come around
To Paris, I must say Au Revoir.
