Try as i may,
Beneath the ground was where i stayed.
I was a fool, i gave up colour for gray,
Eternal pain and suffering, that was my price to pay.

But as i felt helpless, the world fading from sight,
I saw the most beautiful light.
Could this be? my escape from this plight?
To escape from the gray, to be bathed in white?

With nothing but escape in mind,
I rushed towards it, hoping to rejoin mankind.
And as i approached it, the brightness made me blind,
But i could feel it, i was no longer confined.

A second chance, was what i had received,
A free man once more, i no longer had to grieve.
And as i walked, i look at what i had achieved,
I had escaped the gray, and for that i was relieved.

But as i walked, i realized something was awry,
I was no longer a man, but a soul in the sky.
I knew i was still dead, and for that i cried,
Even though it was my choice to die.
