I look up from my page
to the cloud covered sky
as I see rain falling heavily

Rain.

I open my heavier window
and listen silently

I love the way it sounds
as it hits the earth's ground,
the water of the pond,
the birds come out to play.

Love.

I love the way it smells
It calms me, leaves me unable
to do anything but enjoy it.
It blocks out everything else,
leaving me in a gaze.

Joy.

You told me you loved the rain too.
I wish I could have met you
Why did you have to go?

But I know this crying sky,
It won't give you back to me.
I'll listen to its soothing fallen words instead.

So for now,
I'll enjoy it for what it is.
