May 2015
I watched her
disembark
from
her Chevy truck
with the "Go Army" sticker.
She carefully strapped
on her metal legs
and walked to the bench
fifty feet away,
to sit
& skip stones.
It seemed like a struggle for her,
but she was persistent,
quite successful.
Seeing her like that
made me think
about
how much
I take for granted.
Like getting up
in the middle of the night
just to urinate.
She's gone now,
but I sure do hope
she comes back,
I can't wait to meet her,
feel her spirit.
