I sat on the train watching you,

You pushed your hair from your forehead,

And a cloud of burnished copper fell

To your shoulders.

And I saw your violet eyes pre-occupied

Searching the train for me.

I huddled down into my seat to obscure your view.

The champagne light of the morning

Angled through the window,

My head fizzing with bubbles of uncertainty.

Then you began to move

Slowly at first, so slowly you started to recede,

Until I had to twist my head around

To keep you in sight.

Then faster faster you were heading

Away from me, running into the distance

And I still rooted to the spot on my chair,

Observed, it was you after all

Ran away from me.
